Pokies (Poker Machines)
The game's poker machines live in the pub's VIP Lounge. They are not buildable defence towers. During a defence, the battle and day-night cycle continue while you gamble; bar hours and storms affect access to services. Active features finish before you are sent outside.
This is a standalone browser demo of five machines with its own scrap wallet. It does not share currency, progression or current run rewards with the game. The browser section and interactive demo below use separate legacy tables. Its level buttons are free simulation controls, not purchased upgrades in the current lounge.
Shared 3D tables
Open the menu VIP Lounge between runs to play blackjack or roulette with up to four players. Everyone sees the same physical table: one blackjack dealer and shoe, or one roulette wheel and winning pocket. Each player has independent hands or bets and pays from their own saved coin balance. Solo players use the same tables.
Choose a chip worth 1, 5, 10 or 25 coins, place an initial wager of 5–50 coins on the felt and mark Ready. Blackjack hit, stand, double, split and insurance follow the legal actions for your hand; double, split and insurance add their own stakes. Roulette accepts straight numbers, dozens, columns and even-money outside bets. Use Undo, remove a bet, clear the draft or repeat the previous roulette bets before committing. Open Rules for details.
Blackjack retains six decks, 3:2 natural blackjack, a dealer who hits soft 17, doubling on 9, 10 or 11 and up to two split hands. European roulette has one zero: straight numbers pay 35:1, dozens and columns 2:1, and even-money bets 1:1. Winning returns include the applicable stake.
Your blackjack cards, totals and the dealer's visible cards stay beside your actions, with split hands marking the active hand. Hover a blackjack hand, or choose Inspect hand using keyboard or controller, to spread its public cards. Previous hand, Next hand and Back to the table navigate the view. The dealer's face-down card stays hidden until reveal; inspection cannot choose an action or change a wager.
Watch an active round and join the next one when a seat is available. Leaving live blackjack stands your remaining hand; roulette completes its committed spin. Watch/Join does not cancel an accepted live bet. Results show your bet, return and net, with payment confirmation and separate paid/refunded totals when both occur. Unstarted wagers can be cancelled. Rejoining the same host retains your payment identity, including non-Steam connections. A recorded result remains owed; lost host sessions refund stakes without a recorded result once. Unfinished rounds do not migrate to a new host. These tables open between runs.
In-game poker machines: 0.10.11
Big Croc, Mad Mick, Dropbear, Bandit and Eureka each have a physical cabinet, curved mechanical reels and their own sound palette. Bet controls, maximum affordable wager, information and Spin / Start Feature are on the machine. Press Space to spin or start an awarded feature. The deck shows your wager currency and this machine's net return.
Wagers are 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500 or 1,000, subject to your balance. Defence cabinets spend shared run scrap; menu cabinets spend your personal saved coins. In-game cabinets do not use the browser demo's L1–L5 multiplier controls.
The result stays hidden until the reels land. After a spin, the return counts up and the net display follows the tally instead of revealing the outcome early. A return worth 10× your bet or more brings a coin shower and a pulsing BIG WIN display while the amount counts up. The threshold uses the returned amount, not net profit: a 100 bet with a 1,000 return qualifies.
The four classic cabinets play actual free games through their reels, including losing rolls and natural retriggers, up to 40 games in one paid round. Dropbear free games use a 4× cash multiplier. Eureka keeps its nugget hold-and-spin: held drums stay fixed while the others rotate. Remaining games, respins and returns appear on the cabinet LCD.
Taking a seat opens the close play view, which stays close between rounds. Repeat paid spins animate even if consecutive outcomes match. Cabinet LCDs use shorter, larger labels for wager, net return, payout and the active feature. In 0.10.7b, a persistent selected-machine name identifies your cabinet even at 32:9. Reels and controls stay close; the decorative title can sit above the camera frame.
Info / paytable opens beside the machine. Four graphic pages cover Payouts, Features, Win lines and Rules, using the painted reel symbols and the current wager. Choose Full screen for a larger guide, then Side panel or Back to return. Controller shoulders change pages; trigger/page controls scroll. Back steps out of full screen before closing the guide, without changing your seat.
Every winning line or way pays its individual table value. In 0.10.7a, these returns add before the whole paid round is capped, including free games. For example, a 50 wager with four Bandit ways of four horseshoes pays 100: four returns of 25. Already committed spins and saved feature results keep their original payouts. A partial return can still be a loss; no individual spin or short session is guaranteed to profit.
The whole paid round, including its feature, is capped at 100× the wager on the four classic cabinets and 1,500× on Eureka. Each paying line or way returns at least half the wager. With no ordinary payout, identical symbols on the first two reels, in any row, return a quarter rounded up; only one pair return is paid and wild substitution does not count. One half- or quarter-wager return is still a net loss.
During a defence, independent paid-spin bonus chances are 30% for a positive drink, 5% for 1–5 saved coins, 1% for a shared character level and 0.2% for an extra kit slot. Menu spins instead have a 0.02% mate-unlock chance. Read the cabinet's current Rules page when continuing a run with older saved payout rules.
An explicit crew pause freezes the reels, feature counters and cabinet sound. Pause-menu navigation remains available so you can unpause. The demo below uses its own older rules and does not reproduce the current game's feature timing or rewards.
Saved rewards and interrupted rounds
Personal-coin bets must save before play advances. If a later payment fails, a recorded winning return or refund stays owed and retries without paying twice. New local rounds keep accepted stakes and decided results for restart recovery; menu VIP prizes retain companion unlocks as well as coins. Pending payments need writable save storage.
Recovery cannot reconstruct an older result that was never saved. Cancellation rules differ by activity: see the FAQfor local blackjack, roulette and Cup rounds. These changes apply to the game; the browser demo below keeps its separate wallet and rules.
How a browser demo spin works
- 5 reels × 3 rows. Each reel position is rolled from a weighted symbol table — rarer symbols (Dollar, Croc) are deliberately scarce, and Croc is especially rare on reels 4–5.
- Leftmost multiway. A symbol pays when it lands on consecutive reels starting from the left, on any row. Every reel that has the symbol multiplies the “ways”, so stacked symbols pay much more. Minimum match is 3 reels.
- Two selectable demo multipliers. The free L1→L5 controls raise the scrap multiplier (×1/2/4/7/12) and ordinary beer/XP rewards (×1→×5). Eureka nugget values follow their separate bet-and-level formula.
- Bet scales side rewards. Beer and XP payouts scale by √(bet/1000) — a 1000 bet pays 100% of base, a 10 bet still pays ~10%.
The five browser-demo machines
- 🐊 Big Croc — the baseline 5×3 leftmost-multiway machine. 3+ Croc scatters anywhere trigger free games; 5 Dollars is the jackpot.
- 🤪 Mad Mick's Murder Brew — leftmost multiway with its own paytable and a Mick scrap/XP boost (×1.5/2.5/5 for 3/4/5 aligned reels). Bad-beer chance starts at 18% and rises to 26/34/42% with those Mick matches, before beer caps.
- 🤠 Outback Bandit — pays both ways (left-to-right AND right-to-left); each paying direction contributes its return. Wanted poster is a scatter — 3+ anywhere triggers free games.
- 🐨 Drongo's Dropbear — a snappy 3×3 with 5 lines (3 rows + 2 diagonals). Dropbear is a wild for ordinary combinations. Three real Goon Bags on a line award ten free games; wilds cannot complete that trigger.
- 🪙 Eureka! — 25 fixed paylines with low base pays; its identity is the Hold & Spin — land 6+ Gold Nuggets to lock them and respin for more. New nuggets reset the counter to three respins. Filling all 15 celebrates a GRAND; this demo pays the revealed nugget values without an extra GRAND multiplier.
Scrap pays = bet × symbol multiplier × pokie machine scrap multiplier (×1–12 by level) × ways/lines. Beer & XP = base × ways × reward multiplier (×1–5) × √(bet/1000). Each pokie machine has its own per-spin caps; an absolute 10-beer ceiling applies to the demo. In-game service odds and rewards can change with run modifiers; use the machine's current paytable in the pub.
Only demo scrap changes the local wallet. Eureka nugget coins are credited there as demo scrap; XP and drinks are displayed outcomes with no character or progression attached. Free games use their own capped-per-match calculation and may retrigger; the game's 40-game round limit and current lounge conversion do not apply here.
